Many people have heart issues and are not happy about life. They have no real joy. Unfortunate life situations can even squeeze the joy out of your heart, so it’s important to protect your heart physically and spiritually. Although God wants us to be alert and prepared, he also wants us to have joy and enjoy life. Life is truly beautiful even with the ups and downs. It’s another day to thank God and praise him. I like what David said in Psalm 6:5” For in death there is no remembrance of You; In the grave who will give You thanks?.” Even with all the craziness in the world, it is better to live. For some people, it’s all about “their” life and “their” goals, what “they” want, for believers, it’s about God. We are here to please God, not ourselves. God will bless you but life is not about blessings only, and that is why so many can’t get to a happy place, their entire focus is what they can get, and even after getting what they want, they still are not truly happy and still looking for more. If you spend all your life chasing things, money, success, and people, you will never come to a truly happy place, because that is not what life is about.
In this life, you have to learn how to balance it; you have to learn to be content; you have to learn what God desires for your life. Life is not about things, goals and money, these are things you obtain and achieve, but that is not what sums up life or what makes you have joy. True joy is knowing no matter what because God is with you, you will be okay. True joy is when your heart is content with what you have whether, great, or small. True joy is knowing things you own, your education; your status in life is not what makes you who you are because you are greater than these things. True joy is knowing you can walk away from everything and still be happy. If your happiness and joy is only when you have things, or a level of success, what will happen to you once these things are strip away? You’ll have nothing because you never understood what life was about. If you want to understand life, look around you and explain to yourself what do you see, what do you feel and not what you want. You will always want something but that is not what life is about. If you want to have true joy, ask yourself if you had nothing, but God, how would you feel? Is God enough? I believe once you stop focusing on the things of this world, the abundance of it, the pleasures, you will not only find God but also have true joy and understand life, and then you will experience true blessings. What God has for you, will always be there for you.
Scripture Meditations
“Not that I am speaking of being in need, for I have learned in whatever situation I am to be content. I know how to be brought low, and I know how to abound. In any and every circumstance, I have learned the secret of facing plenty and hunger, abundance and need.” Philippians 4:11-12
“ And He said to them, “Take heed and beware of covetousness, for one’s life does not consist in the abundance of the things he possesses.” Then He spoke a parable to them, saying: “The ground of a certain rich man yielded plentifully. And he thought within himself, saying, ‘What shall I do, since I have no room to store my crops?’ So he said, ‘I will do this: I will pull down my barns and build greater, and there I will store all my crops and my goods. And I will say to my soul, “Soul, you have many goods laid up for many years; take your ease; eat, drink, and be merry.” But God said to him, ‘Fool! This night your soul will be required of you; then whose will those things be which you have provided?’ “So is he who lays up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God.” Then He said to His disciples, “Therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat; nor about the body, what you will put on. Life is more than food, and the body is more than clothing. Consider the ravens, for they neither sow nor reap, which have neither storehouse nor barn; and God feeds them. Of how much more value are you than the birds? And which of you by worrying can add one cubit to his stature? If you then are not able to do the least, why are you anxious for the rest? Consider the lilies, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin; and yet I say to you, even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. If then God so clothes the grass, which today is in the field and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, how much more will He clothe you, O you of little faith? “And do not seek what you should eat or what you should drink, nor have an anxious mind. For all these things the nations of the world seek after, and your Father knows that you need these things. But seek the kingdom of God, and all these things shall be added to you. “Do not fear, little flock, for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom. Sell what you have and give alms; provide yourselves money bags which do not grow old, a treasure in the heavens that does not fail, where no thief approaches nor moth destroys. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also” Luke 12:15-34
“ Let your conduct be without covetousness; be content with such things as you have. For He Himself has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.” So we may boldly say: “The Lord is my helper; I will not fear. What can man do to me?” Hebrews 13:5-6
“But godliness with contentment is great gain, for we brought nothing into the world, and we cannot take anything out of the world. But if we have food and clothing, with these we will be content. But those who desire to be rich fall into temptation, into a snare, into many senseless and harmful desires that plunge people into ruin and destruction. For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evils. It is through this craving that some have wandered away from the faith and pierced themselves with many pangs. But as for you, O man of God, flee these things. Pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, steadfastness, gentleness. Fight the good fight of the faith. Take hold of the eternal life to which you were called and about which you made the good confession in the presence of many witnesses.” 1 Timothy 6:6-12
“Teach me, O Lord, the way of your statutes; and I will keep it to the end. Give me understanding, that I may keep your law and observe it with my whole heart. Lead me in the path of your commandments, for I delight in it. Incline my heart to your testimonies, and not to selfish gain! Turn my eyes from looking at worthless things; and give me life in your ways. Confirm to your servant your promise, that you may be feared. Turn away the reproach that I dread, for your rules are good. Behold, I long for your precepts; in your righteousness give me life!” Psalm 119:33-40
