Here is a short version of the story:ย  King Ahasuerus had a Queen- Queen Vashti, he wanted to show her off to the people and she declined to come at his request, he was not happy about her behavior towards him and decided with the other princes to make an example of her by replacing her with another Queen. This is where Esther comes in, the King had made a decree and put the word out there to find young women to make a new Queen, and Esther was one of the women who was brought to the Kingโ€™s house. Of course, the King and others favored Esther, and the royal crowd was placed on her head and she was made Queen. However, the King was not aware of where she came from or any of her family background.

Skipping chapter 2 to chapter 3 the King promoted Haman and when Mordecai would not bow down to him, he wanted to kill him and a group of others like him. Now, the King who didnโ€™t know Haman ulterior motives agreed to the this group being killed. When Esther found out what was going on she came to the king’s presence, and requested that her life and the life of the group, who happened to be her people be spared. Now the King did not realize Esther was part of the group he agreed that Haman could killed. Long story short she was able to intervene so the lives of many was spared. She had a purpose during a difficult time. (the entire story can be found in the book of Esther, Chapter 1-10)

One important thing I want you to take notice was what Mordecai said to Esther about letting the King know what was going on in Esther 4:14, โ€œโ€ฆ.who knows whether thou art come to the kingdom for such a time as this?โ€ I know many people are still looking for their purpose in life, but do you realize in this very moment you are suppose to be here? and that you do have a purpose, even if you have no idea what it is. Esther did not know either but her purpose unfolded as soon as she came out of fear and confronted the king about his decision to have many killed.

Do you know that God is fully aware of what is taken place on earth, even if it seems like his quiet? Esther was brought to the Kingโ€™s house and had no idea what was going to transpire. Iโ€™m sure she was enjoying being a Queen, and had no plans to be an advocate for herself or her people. Even in the midst to trouble, confusion, your purpose is still your purpose.

What Can We Learn from the Book of Esther?

  • You are where you are supposed to be, meaning whatever location you are in now that is where you are supposed to be at this very time (it doesnโ€™t mean you are stuck there, or you wonโ€™t move) but today you are where you are supposed to be.ย
  • God is still working in your life to get you where you need to be, this can be physically, spiritually, emotionally, financially. Although you may not realize what it, God is working diligently. Your Angels, spiritual guides all are helping to guide you, listen carefully to your thoughts, your intuition so you will know which direction to take and don’t forget to take action!
  • God has a purpose for your life, but you have to rise above fear and acknowledge him in all your ways. God purpose is not only about you only. Esther was afraid to confront the King about her people being killed, and Mordecai had to remind her itโ€™s not just about her but an entire generation (Esther 4:12).  Fear keeps us trapped and once you come out of, you realize it was no big deal. Don’t let fear paralyze you.
  • God is always in control, no matter what you see going on in the world, God is in complete control, and he is allowing certain things to come to pass. What you are experiencing now is a small fraction of what you could be experiencing. Take this time to learn from it and prepare.
  • Use your time wisely, stop thinking you have โ€œtime.” Get whatever you need to get done, and get it done now. Put yourself in the position where you see yourself. If Esther waited any longer to approach the King, the people would have died. Is there something you are still procrastinating on? Get it done!

I understand life can be a challenging, an unknown time for you, even discouraging, however, you cannot afford to lose sight of your God given purpose now. Don’t give up! You donโ€™t have time to be letting yourself get distracted and not understand what is going on behind the scenes. Behind the spiritual walls, God is for you, he loves you and is rooting for you. I know God can direct your steps during these days. Trust him, listen to your intuition, draw closer to him, and follow your heart, there lies your purpose. Blessings to you!
