I can’t tell you how much spiritual growth I’ve encountered once I step out of traditional religion and “titles” years ago. I’m so thankful for the time I spent away from the “church.” Now some people may find that weird, after all, I have a relationship with God, shouldn’t I be going to church and be a part of a religion entity? To that question I say- absolutely not. Your religion or church attendance means nothing to God and to your life if you don’t have a personal relationship with God in the first place, and if your heart is far from him.

Many people forget that many in the bible (Adam, Noah, Abraham) had a relationship with God without religion and without a church or church building. They all had a personal relationship with God first before anything you see was established. Many have been using the church and religion as a substitute for a relationship with God and that is not how God set it up. Church attendance has become a routine for many people. It has become a place of play time and entertainment. Rather than worshipping God, praying, fasting, learning, growing spiritually. Many church folks have a closer relationship with their pastors, leaders, and prophets more than they do with God. We are out of order and that is why the world, the church, and many people’s lives are out of order. We must come to an understanding that God does not want or need a religion from you but a relationship. 

Here was God’s response to the children of Israel with their religious antics in Isaiah 1:11-20 “The multitude of your sacrifices—what are they to me?” says the Elohim. “I have more than enough of burnt offerings, of rams and the fat of fattened animals; I have no pleasure in the blood of bulls and lambs and goats. When you come to appear before me, who has asked this of you, this trampling of my courts? Stop bringing meaningless offerings! Your incense is detestable to me. New Moons, Sabbaths and convocations—I cannot bear your worthless assemblies. Your New Moon feasts and your appointed festivals, I hate with all my being. They have become a burden to me; I am weary of bearing them. When you spread out your hands in prayer, I hide my eyes from you; even when you offer many prayers, I am not listening. Your hands are full of blood! Wash and make yourselves clean. Take your evil deeds out of my sight; stop doing wrong. Learn to do right; seek justice. Defend the oppressed. Take up the cause of the fatherless; plead the case of the widow. “Come now, let us settle the matter,”says the Elohim. “Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red as crimson, they shall be like wool. If you are willing and obedient, you will eat the good things of the land; but if you resist and rebel, you will be devoured by the sword.” For the mouth of the Yahweh has spoken.”

See there? God doesn’t care for people’s silliness and he also sees the phoniness of the church, roll on the floor all you want, he knows your heart is far from him, and you really serving yourself, your religion, and the pastor, but not the Most High, Isaiah 29:13; Matthew 15:8. There are so many people who want to appear godly but far from it. Many need to stop focusing on what they are doing externally in the sight of others but need to focus on what is needed internally, the inner spiritual change. People can pretend all they want, but God is not a fool nor will he be mocked. He knows who is truly for him and serve him with all their hearts and those using the “church” for business, or using the “church” image for falsehood.

Religion is manufactured, it is a system, that many take bits of the bible and mix it up with their own ideology, some put a God stamp on it and push it on you and if you are not discerning you will fall right into deception with them. That is why you see some are so radical in their beliefs, because it’s really their “own” beliefs and has nothing to do with God. That is why if you truly take your time to read the bible, you will find many religions are not even biblical, they are completely fabricated.

In addition, many popular teachings you will hear, is also not even biblical. Many pastors add their own opinions and say the message is from God, when it’s far from it. The scripture say “Go into the world and preach the gospel to all creation” what is the gospel? It’s the word of God, the good news, 2 Timothy 4:2; Mark 16:15; Matthew 10:7. Anything added, to make the word sound good or go with the times, is false. This should be easy for you to see that any teachings & preaching contrary to what God instructed to be preaching is man-made, pay attention! Galatians 1:6-10. Religion will have you thinking all kinds of craziness, doing the wrong things, believing in the wrong things, celebrating things that are not even in the bible. Working against God, while you have no idea that you are.

I have come to an understanding not everyone will understand these things, therefore to the few I say, please be careful, take the time to grow in the things of God, grow spiritually and truly draw closer to God so you won’t be led to the wide and broad gate that leads to destruction, Matthew 7:13-14. Read and study your bible for yourself. Put God first, not these false pastors, prophets, prophetess or whatever they are calling themselves these days. Walk away, focus on God, and before you join a church study it first, because many churches have been leading people away from God not closer to him. Many churches are simply becoming very dangerous.
