As always my favorite thing to talk about is spiritual things! I hoped you enjoyed some of the tips provided for your physical health and financial health as we need healing in all areas of our lives to live a life God intended for us. Nevertheless, your spiritual life matters. Some people don’t realize how much your spiritual life can help your mental health as well. Working on your spiritual life will provide you a stronger foundation than you would find in people or in this world. We are spiritual beings living in a physical body so it’s imperative to take care of both! Sometimes your physical sickness can be due to a spiritual and emotional issue that has nothing to do with how you eat, but if you don’t know anything about spiritual things then you will always focus on the physical and can’t understand why nothing is working in the physical for you either! So how do you take care of your Spiritual Health? I will start with the basic keys.
First I’m going to assume you are already a born-again believer. If not, you need to get born-again. If you are trying to be “spiritual” without God it’s going to get a little weird for you, so you need to be born-again, repent of your sins and ask God to be your be God and direct you. Everyone that I have seen who is “spiritual” without God do the weirdest things, very awkward and spooky. When you are working on your spiritual life, you have to get your life in order. Just like God told King Hezekiah to “Set His House in Order,” you need to do the same! Your house involves every aspect of your life: you, your family, your finances, your physical health, your spiritual health, etc., all of that needs to be in order.
Faith
All the decisions you make going forward have to follow faith, trust, and action. You need to have faith and trust to follow God but you also need to take action. Being born-again does not equate to being spiritual. You have to work on your spiritual life by taking the necessary actions. You going to need faith in order to sustain your spiritual health. There are a lot of things happening in the world, people are dying all around us, people are losing their stability, and many are losing faith in everything. However, faith is what you are going to need to stay strong. Have faith that God is not going to lead you on a road of destruction even if you experience some bumps on the road. When things get rough, that is not the time to have a pity party, put that popcorn away! It’s time to stand up and exercise your faith. The same level of faith you have in good times you need to have in bad times. All you need is mustard seed faith. Mustard seeds are very tiny seeds, but the Mustard seed grows without thinking how tiny it is. A lot of things we think we can’t do is because we either lost faith somewhere or not using it at all. Matthew 17:17-20” And Yahshua answered, “O faithless and twisted generation, how long am I to be with you? How long am I to bear with you? Bring him here to me.” And Yahshua rebuked the demon, and it came out of him, and the boy was healed instantly. Then the disciples came to Yahshua privately and said, “Why could we not cast it out?” He said to them, “Because of your little faith. For truly, I say to you, if you have faith like a grain of mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move, and nothing will be impossible for you.”
Eliminate
If you are born-again, you have to learn to eliminate things that draw you away from God. That is another key to be able to grow spiritually and stay spiritually healthy. We have distractions all around us, even in our own household. Look around you, what or who is keeping you from growing spiritually. Are you distracted by social media? Maybe you need to get rid of some accounts. Are you listening and watching perverted music and shows? Are these shows and music bringing you closer to God or away? Once you ask yourself certain questions, you will clearly start to see how many things keep you away from God rather closer. You can’t be spiritual, healthy listening to, taking part in, doing, watching things that don’t grow you spiritually. Many things the world thinks is okay are actually wicked. In fact, what God says do not do that is exactly what the world promotes and celebrates. They don’t promote righteousness and holiness and that is what God is about, so if something is not bringing you closer to what God loves why are you participating in it? Time to get rid of some things! You may need to throw things away, block, delete, eliminate! 1 Corinthians 5:7, “ Therefore purge out the old leaven, that you may be a new lump since you truly are unleavened. For indeed Messiah, our Passover, was sacrificed for us.”
Time
Aside from eliminating distractions, you also going to need to spend your time more wisely, and in order to spiritually grow you have to spend more time with God. I always advise people as soon as you wake up give God thanks, that will help you start preparing your day to focus on God. Praise God while you get ready in the morning, it’s important that we acknowledge him. Doing this over the years has made me more grateful for every day. Many people are so focused on just getting up and taking care of this and that, giving all their time to the world but what about God who has the power to wake you up or keep you in a deep sleep? Spending time with God will also show you how a lot of things are a waste of your time. Time is precious and long life is not promised to anyone no matter how old you are, so it’s important that you are not wasting it on things that don’t grow you. Stop wasting time and don’t allow people to waste your time as well. God put you on earth for a reason and for believers it’s not to serve the world and give it all our time while we ignore God. Some people can give a company 10-16 hours of their time, and can’t give God even 1 hour. Spend genuine time with God, truly take time to read your bible, especially if you want to grow spiritually, pray, fast, and help others, doing these things will indeed keep you spiritually healthy. Things can change within seconds, make every second count. Psalm 90:12 “So teach us to number our days, That we may gain a heart of wisdom.”
If you are an older person wondering if it is too late to get right with God, and set your house in order, I want to encourage you it’s never too late, as long as God is granted you another day take advantage of that day and draw closer to him! God wants to direct us because he already knows what the future holds, why make this journey more difficult by staying away from him? Draw near to him and he will draw near to you!
A bonus in taking care of your spiritual health is that you also take care of your mental health. There are many things that can mentally challenge someone, and having a strong foundation is imperative. When you focus on your spiritual health, you will begin to understand that God is in control of everything and what will be, will be. There are certain things that are going to take place in life we cannot change, so why be bother or worried about something you can’t change. Stop mentally torturing yourself about things, especially things that are already prophesied to occur. Instead, focus on pursuing God and letting Him direct you every day. Ask God to give you the mental, spiritual, physical, and financial strength for each day. May you begin to see that God does want to do you good and not harm. Draw Close to GOD!
