1 Thessalonians 5:18, reminds us “In everything give thanks: for this is the will of Yahweh in Messiah Yahshua concerning you.” Keyword here, “this is the will of Yahweh,” it is God’s will that we be thankful for everything. I know when you are going through a difficult, sad time you don’t feel like being thankful for the situation you are in, but God is not saying be thankful something bad happens to you, but be thankful for what did not happen to you. Be thankful you are still here. Be thankful you learn something that made you wiser from the experience. Be thankful that experience made you stronger. Once you start to understand it this way, then you can see how easy it is to be thankful for everything. I want to encourage you to just be thankful for everything. When you wake up, be thankful. Throughout your day be thankful, going to be bed, be thankful, this is God’s will for you.
In your thankfulness don’t forget to add praise and worship, for God takes much pleasure in this as well. Nobody praises God better than King David. Many of his psalms contain praises in them. One of my favorite praise scripture is Psalm 100 that says, “Make a joyful shout to Yahweh, all you lands! Serve Yahweh with gladness; Come before His presence with singing. Know that Yahweh, He is God; it is He who has made us, and not we ourselves; We are His people and the sheep of His pasture. Enter into His gates with thanksgiving, And into His courts with praise. Be thankful to Him, and bless His name. For Yahweh is good; His mercy is everlasting, And His truth endures to all generations.” This scripture sums all three things up, being thankful, praise, and worshipping God. Take some time and go over Psalms you will find many blessings in them.
Worshipping God is equally important so much so, John 4:24, tells us “God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.” When we worship God, we must be genuine. God knows our hearts so much so in Isaiah 29:13 we see “Therefore Yahweh said: “Inasmuch as these people draw near with their mouths And honor Me with their lips, But have removed their hearts far from Me, And their fear toward Me is taught by the commandment of men,” Never think you can fool God even in private moments. Come to God with a pure heart, in truth and in spirit and your praise and worship will be a sweet incense to God. Praising and worshipping God is not just singing and dancing, but also a heart issue. May you always come to God in spirit and in truth. There are also many benefits to thanking, praising, and worshipping God as well.
