Is God Enough for You?

“But whoever drinks of the water that I will give him will never be thirsty again. The water that I will give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life.” John 4:14

Do you still find yourself looking for alternatives to your spiritual life? Are you not feeling connected to God physically? I cannot tell you how many times I witness people trying to connect to God in many other ways. The first thing you must understand is that God is a Spirit. John 4:24 tells us that “God is a spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.” In the beginning in Genesis 1:2, you will see that God moves as a Spirit and repeatedly, God tells us he is a spirit. If you find yourself trying to add things to your spiritual life, you are doing too much. You must learn to submit your spirit to God to connect with God. You do not need to seek guidance from psychics, mediums, astrology, false prophets, etc. In fact the scriptures tell us to not engage with any who do these things, and it’s dangerous to do so, 1 Chronicles 10:13-15; Leviticus 20:6-7;  Deuteronomy 18:9-15; 1 Samuel 15:23. I’m noticing that many are not calling themselves psychics anymore but calling themselves “spiritual guides.” Here is what the bible states about that, God provided us with the Holy Spirit as our guide, he never provided people to be our spiritual guide, John 16:13-15; John 14:15-26; John 15:26; Acts 2:38; Luke 11:13; Romans 8:26-27. If you are a believer, you already have a guide. A person can guide you to the word of God through teaching the word and but not operating like a psychic over you, like many of these “spiritual guides” often do.

It’s true God may use others to speak to you, but Satan can do the same to draw you away from God and if you not able to discern the difference you will be lead on the wrong path, 2 Corinthians 11:14-15; 1 John 4:1; 2 Thessalonians 2:9; Jeremiah 14:14. Satan can give people visions, and dreams to draw you away from God, causing you to always want to seek that person to get information about your life, that is Satan operating, understand the difference.  When you desire a healthy, truthful relationship with God, you must learn to seek God only, seek his spirit, the Holy Spirit.

Understand this if God is not enough for you and you have to do “extra” things just to try to connect to him, you are quenching the Holy Spirit, 1 Thessalonians 5:19Galatians 5:19-21. Every time you have to add physical things, seek others to get a “word from God” you are saying to God he is not enough, he is not able to direct you in life, and so the Holy Spirit is being pushed back from you and cannot operate fully in your life. I don’t believe that is what you want to do, but you need to really evaluate your relationship with God, is he enough for you? No one on earth can guide you about your life like God can, he created you, he knows your destiny, he is the only one you should be communicating to about your life, purpose and future. If you continue to seek others to find out about your future, you are now practicing occult in your life. If you didn’t have anyone or anything on this earth but just God, will he be enough for you?
