How to Avoid False Prophets, Pastors, Preachers, and Priests

False prophets are nothing new to the world of believers. Many existed from the beginning and many more will pop up. Some of them are not even aware they are false, because they themselves believe their own lies. The internet has made it super easy for them to thrive and deceive even more people. But they canโ€™t deceive anyone who actually reads their bible, and that is my first advice to you, read your bible for yourself. If you take the time to read the bible, you will see clearly nothing they say or do is biblical. You are responsible for your spiritual life and if you find yourself always drawn to certain messages you need to ask yourself why? โ€œ For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers; and they will turn their ears away from the truth, and be turned aside to fables. 2 Timothy 4:3-4.

Beware of These Traits They All Seem to Have:

They are often always selling some oils, something โ€œanointingโ€, clothe, spit, blood, water, salt, crystal, etc., itโ€™s always something you need to buy so you can be โ€œhealedโ€ or, โ€œprosper.โ€

They are often doing strange rituals and activities, i.e. kissing of the minister feet.

They believe they can teach spiritual gifts God has freely given and charge you for it.

They often take scripture out of context and create an entirely new story out of scripture. If itโ€™s not biblically, not adding up, not making sense, itโ€™s because itโ€™s false.

Their ministry is full of entertainment. When you start to feel like you are in a show every church meeting, you are. Entertainment is just another form of distraction to get you to have โ€œfun,โ€ be โ€œhappyโ€ and get no real teachings. These churches understand peopleโ€™s emotions very well and that is why they can use your own emotions against you every time.

Beware of constant story-telling, this is a way to distract you from getting any real information or better yet from them actually preaching any biblical word. Many false prophets love to story tell because they know people like a good story. Instead of hearing โ€œonce upon a timeโ€ or โ€œIt was a dark and cloudy dayโ€ you most likely hear, โ€œthere was a womanโ€, โ€œA man went,โ€ itโ€™s always something. Sometimes itโ€™s them always going to heaven or hell, like seriously how many times you are taken there? When it doesnโ€™t make sense, itโ€™s because itโ€™s not true. In addition, the story they come back with from their vacation to Heaven or Hell is no way biblically or spiritually. Itโ€™s often spooky and contains a lot of worldly behaviors.

They always have to start off by saying โ€œGod told me to tell you,โ€ โ€œGod says this,โ€ โ€œGod told me this about you,โ€ โ€œThis message is from God,โ€ and the message is often regular messages anyone can say to someone. For example, โ€œGod told me you will be healed,โ€ โ€œGod told me you will prosper,โ€ my favorite โ€œGod told me your enemies try to take you out but God.โ€ Whatโ€™s funny about this is they all say the same thing, itโ€™s like they are in a club together. When you read the bible and God was telling real prophets his message to the people, it was usually messages for the people to stop sinning, repent and turn back to God. Read the books of Isaiah, Jeremiah, Ezekiel, Hosea, Amos, etc., there are not messages all about blessings, cotton candies, sugar and spice and everything nice, or you always triumph above your enemies, some people are their own enemies. The real prophets had real spiritual changing messages, not messages anyone can make up. Furthermore, even messages about blessings had a requirement of obedience to God’s word attached to it.

โ€œIf you will return, O Israel,โ€ says the Lord, โ€œReturn to Me; And if you will put away your abominations out of My sight, Then you shall not be moved. And you shall swear, โ€˜The Lord lives,โ€™ In truth, in judgment, and in righteousness; The nations shall bless themselves in Him, And in Him they shall glory.โ€For thus says the Lord to the men of Judah and Jerusalem: โ€œBreak up your fallow ground, And do not sow among thorns. Circumcise yourselves to the Lord, And take away the foreskins of your hearts, You men of Judah and inhabitants of Jerusalem, Lest My fury come forth like fire, And burn so that no one can quench it, Because of the evil of your doings.โ€ Isaiah 4:1-4

They often preach feel-good messages, and stay away from any messages that may be โ€œoffensiveโ€ to โ€œsinners.โ€ If someone who claimed God called them to preach or teach then they should absolutely have no issues or reasons to not do what they claimed God called them to do. They have to speak, preach, and teach the truth, even when it hurts. The word is a two-edged sword, so itโ€™s going to hurt, โ€œBe diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth, โ€œ2 Timothy 2:15.

These are just a few traits to look out for, the key is once you identify one, you are following one, you were obsessed with one, worship one, underneath one, to make an exit. Do not feel bad that you even allow yourself to believe such craziness, because we all have been and some still are manipulated in some way. The church, pastors, ministries, are not always a โ€œsafe placeโ€ unfortunately. That is why itโ€™s imperative you establish your own relationship with God and draw closer to him. Obtain Godโ€™s wisdom and not mankindโ€™s wisdom. Read the bible for yourself and you will start to be able to identify false prophets. Many are truly Satan’s ministers even if they don’t look demonic to you, wake up! Matthew 7:15-20. Draw Closer to God.

โ€œ But evil men and impostors will grow worse and worse, deceiving and being deceived. But you must continue in the things which you have learned and been assured of, knowing from whom you have learned them, and that from childhood you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith which is in Messiah Yahshua. All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.โ€
