Have Your Figured Out What’s Important in Life?

I’m amazed the amount of time people spend on talking about, or listening to things that won’t increase them spiritually, mentally, physically or even financially. Do you understand how precious time is? Before you know it, it will all be over. Have you considered how you are spending your time and if what you are spending your time listening to, talking about or doing is even worth it? “Come now, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we will go to such and such a city, spend a year there, buy and sell, and make a profit”; whereas you do not know what will happen tomorrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapor that appears for a little time and then vanishes away. Instead, you ought to say, “If the Lord wills, we shall live and do this or that.” James 4:13-15. We do not have time to waste, especially with our spiritual life. As believers we really need to learn to value our life, by doing so, you will value time. We need the wisdom to pick and choose what will be beneficial to look at, listen to, and talk about. This obsession people have these days with social media, celebrities, athletes, and politicians, who do nothing for your wellbeing is a waste of time. Do you really think God put you on this earth to talk about and listen to nonsense? God has plans for your life and you cannot allow yourself to be distracted and deceived with things that do not elevate your mind. There are serious matters going on around us all around the world, that will trickle down, but many are not paying attention and will be unprepared for what is coming. “Therefore, see that you walk carefully [living life with honor, purpose, and courage; shunning those who tolerate and enable evil], not as the unwise, but as wise [sensible, intelligent, discerning people], making the very most of your time [on earth, recognizing and taking advantage of each opportunity and using it with wisdom and diligence], because the days are [filled with] evil.  Therefore, do not be foolish and thoughtless, but understand and firmly grasp what the will of the Lord is. Ephesians 5:15-17 (AMP).

I want to encourage you to figure out what is important in your life, your wellbeing, your goals in life, your future. What have you accomplished this year? How have your life change for the better or is everything still the same? What area in your life can you work on spiritually, physically, mentally and financially instead of spending countless hours watching T.V., on social media or listening to gossip. This will help you to narrow down what you have been spending time doing with your life and what needs to change, because we are moving forward not backwards. We only get one chance to live, live with a purpose.

“Don’t overlook the obvious here, friends. With God, one day is as good as a thousand years, a thousand years as a day. God isn’t late with his promise as some measure lateness. He is restraining himself on account of you, holding back the End because he doesn’t want anyone lost. He’s giving everyone space and time to change.” 2 Peter 3:8-9 (The Message).
