Some maybe wondering where is God all in all of this? After all, God said in his word “I will never leave you nor forsake you,” Deuteronomy 31:6, yet we see tragedy after tragedy happening in this world. If understood correctly this mean through good and bad times God will be with you no matter what. It’s unfortunate some of  the ways people’s lives end, however, everyone has their own destiny and while many feel someone doesn’t deserve to died a certain way, only God knows why he allow it to happen. “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you…..,” Jeremiah 1: 4-5. God is the only one who knows our beginning and our ending. He is still in control and he is NOT on a vacation.

Many still don’t think God exist or that he is suppose to make everything better no matter or he should only let “good” things happen always. Believers we cannot think like this because that is not living in reality. God is not a magician, his not a genie in a bottle, and he doesn’t owe us anything or a “perfect” life. We live in a wicked world, with wicked people who choose to make wicked decisions. Even God gives us a choice whether to serve him or not, Joshua 24:14-15. Things are going to happen in this world and in this life; we are warned in several scriptures of this. Moreover, David wrote this perfectly in Ecclesiastes, “To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven, Ecclesiastes. 3:1

I’m also reminded of when King Hezekiah was ill to the point of death and the Most High sent a message to him from prophet Amoz that King Hezekiah needed to set his house in order for he will die. Of course when King Hezekiah heard this the fear of God came upon him, and he turned his face toward the wall, and prayed to God and God indeed heard his prayers and added to his life, of course he died years later, the point here is God can do whatever he wants. He can shorten or lengthen our life. However, most people have an idea of what God should or shouldn’t do based on their understanding of things, mainly in the physical but often not spiritual. God gave mankind dominion over the earth but never over him and many won’t admit mankind has done a terrible job, create all kinds of problems and drew away from God. The majority of bad things happening is because the world is far from God, we left his teachings, his protection, his wisdom.

People who don’t understand spiritual things have all kinds of expectation of God that are often wrong. If someone feels God is silent, don’t exist, not helping, then maybe his silent for a reason. God have ask and been asking for people to come back to him, draw near to him, worship him, turn to him, seek him, instead most people do the opposite and expect God to come like a knight shining armor and make everything right. God has feelings too. After a while, people give him no choice but to be silent. Do you keep talking to someone who won’t listen? After while, even you will just be quiet and say no more. We must also consider our part, our role in our relationship with God, our role in this world, our role with how we treat each other. If you ever reach a place in your life and feel God is silent, consider what role you play in this. During these times you want to draw closer to God not further away, not allowing evil to overcome the good in you, Romans 12:21.

For those who are discouraged about continuing this walk with God, or wavering, or frustrated about what you see in the world, I urge you to do as King Hezekiah did and turn your face to a wall and seek God, you are distracted. Frustration is a sign of trusting in the wrong foundation, wrong people, wrong things, it’s time to turn back to God, “My soul, wait silently for God alone, For my expectation is  from Him. He only is my rock and my salvation; He is my defense; I shall not be moved. In God is my salvation and my glory; The rock of my strength, And my refuge, is in God. Trust in Him at all times, you people; Pour out your heart before Him; God is a refuge for us. Selah,” Psalm 62:5-8.

May you stay encouraged always to seek God and draw closer to him! Let us come back to God.
