This blog post is not to be used as an exclusive list or ways God can bless you. God can bring a blessing  and/or opportunity to you in many ways sometimes in unconventional ways. However, there are few things you may start to observe in your own life or other lives and realize a blessing can be coming from somewhere else. A lot of believers often struggle with the idea that bad people seems to be winning all the time, or that everything seems to always work out for them. David in the bible in Psalm 73:3-5 said, “For I was envious at the foolish, when I saw the prosperity of the wicked. For there are no bands in their death but their strength is firm. They are not in trouble as other men, neither are they plagued like other men.” He continues on in the chapter and he asked when is God going to despise their image, Psalm 73:20. Many times, we forget that God is not the only one in the blessing business. For instance, we see that Satan can offer up blessings as well, as he did to the Messiah in Matthew 4: 1-11 “The Messiah was led by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil. After fasting forty days and forty nights, he was hungry. The tempter came to him and said, “If you are the Son of God, tell these stones to become bread.” The Messiah answered, “It is written: ‘Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.’ Then the devil took him to the holy city and had him stand on the highest point of the temple. “If you are the Son of God,” he said, “throw yourself down. For it is written: “‘He will command his angels concerning you, and they will lift you up in their hands, so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.’ The Messiah answered him, “It is also written: ‘Do not put the Elohim your God to the test.’ Again, the devil took him to a very high mountain and showed him all the kingdoms of the world and their splendor. “All this I will give you,” he said, “if you will bow down and worship me.” The Messiah said to him, “Away from me, Satan! For it is written: ‘Worship the Elohim your God, and serve him only.’ Then the devil left him, and angels came and attended him.” If you notice in verse, eight I underline above, that Satan offer the Messiah a major blessing “the kingdom of the world” if the Messiah would just bow down and worship him. The Messiah who is not move by his false promises and is not materialistic did not fall for this trap. The Kingdom already belong to him! See how deception can be crafty. Imagine someone offering you something that you already own. However, many fall for Satan traps daily.

Some people feel because they “know” God and they believe in God that they don’t bow down and worship Satan, here’s the truth your actions and want you continue to choose to engage in is proof who you truly worship. Satan doesn’t need you to say the words that you worship him, he sees and knows what you desire, and you always fall for what he brings to you and there he grabs you. You became his because he will continue to use and give you what desire and like and by you accepting it and engaging in it, is a form of worship. Satan is very crafty and he watches you, he knows your thoughts, he knows when to push your button, and he knows your weakness. You know that saying “nobody watches you like your enemy?” Well it’s true and Satan is your biggest enemy. He loves to see you engage in his blessings, whether it’s in the form of money obtained through greed and stealing, popularity, fame, admiration, idolatry, or sinning, he loves it and he will continue to bless you with your heart’s desire. You ever notice that people who use to engage in Satan blessings when they turn away from him he attempts to destroy them? See once you accept his blessings don’t think you can get away that quickly, it takes a lot of praying, fasting, and completely surrendering to God for Satan to leave you alone. For some, who were not able to get away he eventually destroys them, some in the form of drug abuse,  diseases, suicide, mental instability and even death.  Satan is not a friend of yours and its important when you are spiritual growing to identify whether that blessing or opportunity you so happy or proud about is actually from God or Satan.

Here are some things you can look out for **Not an Exclusive List**

Blessings from Satan

  • Is often very pleasurable, fun, easy to get, feels like you won the lottery, on cloud nine.
  • You often feel untouchable and unstoppable, starts to be less humble and turn very prideful.
  • You become more materialistic, always engaging with the things and people in the world that don’t care for God or work against God.
  • Your behavior is often  turn into unrighteous, lifestyle is filthy, makes people wonder whether you are a believer or even born again.
  • Wealth, money is often obtained by greed, cheating people, lying to people, pressure, fraudulent, committing crimes, become a con artist.
  • Success can be overnight or by having to do ungodly things to get it.
  • You are often working behind the scene to “make” things happen instead of relying on God.
  • Satan draws you away from God and closer to the world’s standards, thinking, and actions; no desire for spiritual things or spiritual growth or becomes less spiritual.
  • You become more accepting of worldly things and people that clearly don’t know or like God.
  • Satan only blessings you with physically blessings, money, cars, homes, etc. but he cannot and can never give you any spiritual gift that is not false. His spiritual gifts are false prophets, false teachers, preachers, and false prophecies, false and temporary blessings.
  • Hardships often come after Satan blessings. In the end, you often lose something, a life, the material things you obtained.
  • Satan’s blessings keeps you blind and bind, it is hard to let go of the blessings and “lifestyle” he has provided. You begin to think you can have it all, eat your cake while you at it.
  • In relationships, the person is often too good to be true or still embracing worldly standards, mindset, and actions. They would often think you are being “too religious or spiritual” and want you to embrace the world as well. They embrace everything worldly.
  • Satan’s blessings have a stopping point, in which he starts to entertain you with things and people to destroy your life, drugs, alcohol, sex, partying, unlimited spending, and people stealing from you until you are left with nothing or death.

Blessings From God

  • God’s blessings are often peaceful, effortless in the sense of God favors working for you as oppose to you doing everything on your own terms. *(Some people say they experience struggles before receiving God’s blessings but that is something to be examine on how much the person’s own actions contribute to their struggle as well, i.e. being stubborn, stiff neck, not relying on God’s guidance before obtaining the blessing).
  • You often have work to get it, sometimes for years and years of praying. God sometimes bless or present an opportunity immediately, but the majority of the time it is not overnight success.
  • You did not work to get things to happen by your own effort and doings but rely on God.
  • God blessings and opportunities always require honesty, integrity, fairness, patience, standing up for your values and morals.
  • God’s blessings keep you in righteousness and seeking after righteousness, clean, decent, modest, and virtuous.
  • God’s blessings make you more humble and grateful for the blessings and/or opportunity.
  • Makes you want to do better in your life and help others do better in their life.
  • You have no desire to cheat, lie, and abuse, oppress others or commit crimes.
  • Not interesting in using your wealth/money to be materialistic or show off.
  • In relationships, the person is supportive of your spiritual growth, and wants to grow as well. They guide you into spiritual things and away from the world standards, mindset, and actions.
  • God’s blessings Draws you closer to God, desire to be more spiritual and a doer of the word not just a hearer.
  • God will start to bless you not just with physical blessings (wealth, investments, etc.) but also spiritual blessings, the spirit of discernment, Knowledge, prophecy, wisdom, etc.
  • God’s blessing are long lasting and grows, increases can last for generations.

I hope this list helps you determine whether your blessings is from God or Satan as many times people, including myself thought something or someone was from God but time and what manifest  after  (and sometimes before) the blessing/opportunity arrives prove otherwise, so you really have to be discerning. This non-exclusive list is to be used as self-examination not to be used to prove another person’s blessing is from Satan.  We must first work on our own spiritual growth before we participate in righteous judgment, and yes another believer can righteously judge another believer, read your bible, John 7:24, Proverbs 9:8-10. However, righteous judgment is to help, and teach the person it is not used to point fingers. Don’t spend your time looking at what others are doing or their “blessings”, don’t envy, get jealous of it either, as time and actions will show where the source of blessing is really from, Psalm 37.

I believe God allows Satan to bless many because of their heart’s desires, even when it is a bad thing. These are often the ones who praise God with their lips but their hearts are far from him, Matthew 15:8-9. God has a way of showing people true colors by exposing them and their true motives. God wants people who truly love him and his ways and he desire to bless his own with good blessings, not false, dangerous, or temporary blessings, pay attention. This list should help you examine things that appear to be a blessing or opportunity but it’s really not, remember if “it” or the “someone” is going to draw you away from God, it’s a blessing from hell not heaven! Not everything that glitters is gold and not everything and anyone who shows up at the time you need it is from God. Discernment is key.

Scripture Meditation

Ephesians 6:11-16 “Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places. Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand firm. Stand therefore, having fastened on the belt of truth, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and, as shoes for your feet, having put on the readiness given by the gospel of peace. …”

1 John 3:10 “By this it is evident who are the children of God, and who are the children of the devil: whoever does not practice righteousness is not of God, nor is the one who does not love his brother.”

2 Timothy 2:26 “And they may come to their senses and escape from the snare of the devil, after being captured by him to do his will.

1 John 5:2 “By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God and obey his commandments.”

Psalm 37:1-40 “ Fret not yourself because of evildoers; be not envious of wrongdoers! For they will soon fade like the grass and wither like the green herb. Trust in the Lord, and do good; dwell in the land and befriend faithfulness. Delight yourself in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the Lord; trust in him, and he will act. …”

Joshua 1:8 “This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.”

Deuteronomy 8:18 “You shall remember the Elohim your God, for it is he who gives you power to get wealth, that he may confirm his covenant that he swore to your fathers, as it is this day.”

Deuteronomy 28:1-68 “And if you faithfully obey the voice of the Elohim your God, being careful to do all his commandments that I command you today, Elohim your God will set you high above all the nations of the earth. And all these blessings shall come upon you and overtake you, if you obey the voice of Elohim your God. Blessed shall you be in the city, and blessed shall you be in the field. Blessed shall be the fruit of your womb and the fruit of your ground and the fruit of your cattle, the increase of your herds and the young of your flock. Blessed shall be your basket and your kneading bowl. …”

Hebrews 13:5 “Keep your life free from love of money, and be content with what you have, for he has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.”

2 Timothy 3:16-17 “All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be competent, equipped for every good work.”

1 Timothy 6:9-11 “But those who desire to be rich fall into temptation, into a snare, into many senseless and harmful desires that plunge people into ruin and destruction. For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evils. It is through this craving that some have wandered away from the faith and pierced themselves with many pangs. But as for you, O man of God, flee these things. Pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, steadfastness, gentleness.”

1 Timothy 6:7 “For we brought nothing into the world, and we cannot take anything out of the world.”

Galatians 6:9 “And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up.”

Psalm 1: 1-6 “Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. But his delight is in the law of Yahweh; and in his law doth he meditate day and night. And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper. The ungodly are not so: but are like the chaff which the wind driveth away. Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous. For Elohim knoweth the way of the righteous: but the way of the ungodly shall perish.”
