Does a Relationship with God Take Away Fun From Your Life?

Many people stay away from developing a real relationship with God because they know God is going to call them out of their sins and many people simply don’t want to admit when they are wrong, even when its privately between them and God. I’ve seen many frustrations amongst believers who feel like once they get saved (born-again) they have to follow a list of rules and everything they like -they have to stop doing. Some believers still desire the lifestyle of the world, and many want to be of the world and have a relationship with God, but that’s not possible. Believers must come to understanding that you have to choose one, you can’t have both, 1 John 2:15 tells us “Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.” Child of God, you live in the world, but you are no longer of the world. Once you accept that, you will be able to develop a better relationship with God.

God is not trying to make life un-enjoyable for you, just because he wants you to live, think and act a certain way according to his will. A life with God is very enjoyable and peaceful. There are plenty of things you can still enjoy, and enjoy in general if you would stop seeking worldly pleasures you will see that. Part of this world is very comfortable to go to hell in a handbasket, unless you enjoy the ride, I suggest you get off really quick and wake up. God is not taking away fun from your life, he is removing the things that will lead you to eternal death, Matthew 25:46; Matthew 10:28; Revelation 21:8; John 3:16; 2 Thessalonians 1:8-12; Romans 6:23. Don’t be confused when you see people who say they are “believers” living a different life oppose to the word of God, these individuals clearly have not made a choice on who they are going to serve, God, their flesh or the world, “And if it seems evil to you to serve the Elohim, choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the River, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you dwell. But as for me and my house, we will serve the Yahweh,” Joshua 24:15

I promise you if you take the time to develop a relationship with God, life will be enjoyable and all the things you thought you desire in the world, you’ll see they will mean less to you. You will start to see that a spiritual life is more pleasing than a life that is here and there. For me personally, my spiritual life is the upmost importance for me, so much so, anything and anyone that threatens it has to go. I know it’s hard to let go of your favorite songs, TV shows, hang out spots, but if it’s not pleasing to God than it shouldn’t be pleasing to you. One big thing I noticed in submitting to God more is that the more time you spend with him, the less time you have to engage in nonsense and things that doesn’t grow you. There are so much things you can enjoy in this world without submitting yourselves to worldly standards and mindset. God created this world, you can travel, you can still listen to music that is uplifting, you can still go to a nice restaurant, go see a movie, food festivals, volunteer, sports, dance class, cooking class, start a garden, go fishing, have a barbeque with family and friends, etc. God is just saying if you want to watch that movie, just be mindful what you are putting in your mind and spirit, if it is not beneficial, don’t do it. God never said get saved, go to your room, and never come out. God wants you to live, he wants you to enjoy life, and he just doesn’t want you making decisions based on your flesh and not your spirit. If you are born-again the Holy Spirit warns you when something is wrong, not right, and you have to make the decision to listen to the Holy Spirit or your flesh.

There is so much nasty stuff going in the world, I’m still perplexed as to why people think destroying your soul is “fun.” The majority of the things people call fun in this world is usually, destructive, distracting and keep your far from God. Choose today whom you will serve. Please understand God is not trying to suppress your life just because he tells you be careful what you are listening to, watching, doing, eating, all the things he is saying no to, is actually destroying you not empowering you. Once you take the time to spiritually grow, you won’t desire these things anymore. A life with God is enjoyable, it’s pleasant, it’s peaceful, it’s clean, it’s nice, and it’s fun!

It’s time to make a decision, is a relationship with the world more important than a relationship with God?   Draw Closer to God.

Scripture Meditation

Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—is not of the Father but is of the world. And the world is passing away, and the lust of it; but he who does the will of God abides forever,” 1 John 2:15-17

“Adulterers and adulteresses! Do you not know that friendship with the world is enmity with God? Whoever therefore wants to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God,” James 4:4

“No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will be loyal to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon, “ Matthew 6:24

“ For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit. For to be carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. But you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you. Now if anyone does not have the Spirit of Messiah, he is not His. And if Messiah is in you, the body is dead because of sin, but the Spirit is life because of righteousness.  But if the Spirit of Him who raised Messiah from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Messiah from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you.” Romans 8:5-11

“ For God did not call us to uncleanness, but in holiness. Therefore he who rejects this does not reject man, but God, who has also given us His Holy Spirit,” 1 Thessalonians 4:7-8

“Whoever loves his life loses it, and whoever hates his life in this world will keep it for eternal life,” John 12:25
