Do You Need Rest?

So much is happening and it is happening quickly! Maybe you are starting to feel overwhelmed, lonely, tired, worried, or even discouraged. I want to remind you that God is watching over you and can give you rest. We all can enjoy the peace of God and have rest in our hearts and minds no matter what is going on around us. At 4:00 a.m. in the morning, I was explaining something to God, when I fell asleep, I do not know when I went to sleep. However, when I got up later in the morning, I went into my usual routine of reading a chapter of the bible and praying but then the Spirit of God had me read another book in the bible, which happens to provide insight to what I was explaining to God about earlier! This particular book reminded me again to trust the process and find rest in God. He also gave me another scripture, which was Joshua 1:8 which states,โ€œ This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.โ€ Now some people read this and automatically think of financial success but this is not where I am going with this nor was that the message from God to me. Being prosperous and good success does not always mean financial only, but it can be success in your mind, your heart, and overall life as well. In any case, after reading that scripture I laughed! The reason I laughed was that I knew God was telling me โ€œYou know betterโ€ โ€œI need you to just rest in what Iโ€™m doing and how Iโ€™m doing it!โ€ Yes indeed I knew better, everything I was explaining to God at 4:00 a.m. in the morning, I could have easily found a scripture to meditate on, instead of trying to make an โ€œissueโ€ out of it. I know what the word says; I know I could find a scripture for anything that I could come up with, so indeed I knew better. The message for the day for me was to rest, meditate, you know better!

Do you know when you rest in God, the peace that surpasses understanding truly comes upon you, Philippians 4:4-9 reminds us โ€œRejoice in Yahweh always. Again I will say, rejoice! Let your gentleness be known to all men. Yahweh is at hand. Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Yahshua. Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthyโ€”meditate on these things. The things, which you learned, received, heard, and saw, in me, these do, and the God of peace will be with you. Once again, we see if we put our minds and hearts to focus on the right thing, you will have peace and rest. That is why it is important that we meditate on the word of God night and day. The word of God is a good report. Knowing and meditating on the word of God brings rest to us because whatever God promises to you shall come to pass no matter the timing or the craziness going on in the world. Moreover, God does not lie so if he says he is going to watch over you, protect you, guide you, direct you, bless you, and love you we can trust in his word, Numbers 23:19.

I got my message from God so now I want to encourage whatever is bothering you- learn to rest and trust God process and meditate on the word of God day and night so you shall have good success in your mind and heart. Sometimes we make things bigger than it is because we want God to work on our timeline or expectations but God is the one who made us not the other way around. We must learn not to think we can order God around, and then feel some type of way when things do not happen, as we want them to, that is why his word is so important because once you know God does have your back you can rest! Matthew 11:28-30, says, โ€œCome to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and my burden is light.โ€ Furthermore, stop putting the worldโ€™s burden on your shoulder, the world is going through exactly what they are supposed to go through, nothing is a surprise to God, Psalm 46:10 โ€œBe still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!โ€ If worry or fear was the issue, worry no more and fear not. Meditate on these scriptures, Psalm 56:3, 2 Timothy 1:7, Psalm 34:4, 1 Peter 5:7, John 14:27. If loneliness was the concern, meditate on this scripture, Psalm 73:23-26, โ€œNevertheless I am continually with you; you hold me by my right hand. You will guide me with your counsel, and afterward receive me to glory. Whom have I in heaven but You? And there is none upon earth that I desire besides You. My flesh and my heart fail; But God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.โ€ Do you see a pattern here? No matter the issue or situation, God provided a word for you and we can trust his word, meditate on his word so you can rest and have good success! Draw Closer to GOD.
