Are You Producing Fruits?

If you never planted anything in life, it’s pretty hard to understand the importance seed, time, and harvest. Before you can enjoy some fresh fruits it needs to be planted and once the seed is in the ground, you still have to tend to it, by making sure weeds are not growing around it, it’s getting watered, sunlight (if needed) before you see some results. Once the seed get settled in the ground (good ground) it will grow some roots underground and it will eventually start sprouting. Before the actually fruit tree come forth you may see some small leaves growing from the ground and if you keep tending to it, you should be able to see it fully grow until you even see some fruits come out. Now some fruits trees take a long time to produce fruit, although they will grow into a tree. One of the longest fruit tree is the Cherry Tree, it can take as long seven years, some other fruits trees as long at ten years. However, they will eventually bear some fruit.

Now if you ever planted anything, a fruit tree, a vegetable garden and let us say you waited the longest you can wait, like ten years and nothing comes forth, then something went wrong during the growing process. Nothing just happens; there is a reason for everything. Well, similar to a believer’s life, if you are born-again, you are spiritually growing, you have a personal relationship with God, then you should be producing some fruits, even if it took you ten years, some results should be showing up. There is no way someone claim they are believers, born-again, taking time to spend with God, reading and studying their bible will not produce any fruits of righteous, holiness, wisdom, discernment, knowledge, etc. Granted you may not have done all things perfectly and you may not have perfected all areas, you may still be learning, as we all are, but something will produce.

One-way The Messiah, instructed us to identify a false prophet is to look at their fruits, look at what they are producing, “Watch out for false prophets. They come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ferocious wolves. By their fruit you will recognize them. Do people pick grapes from thornbushes, or figs from thistles?Likewise, every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, and a bad tree cannot bear good fruit. Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. Thus, by their fruit you will recognize them,Matthew 7:15-20. Can an apple tree produce an orange tree? Can a believer who is born-again, studying their bible, spending time with God, produce worldly standards? Unless you are reading a bible different than the one God is in, it’s impossible to produce something you are not. The fruits you are producing in your life is important. That is how you will know what you are made of and how others will recognize what you are made of.

If you claim you are a believer still producing and/or embracing worldly standards, worldly thinking, in love with the world and the things and people of this world, you need to tend to your tree. If you claim to be believer and for some years now, 10+ years and you are not producing any fruits that line up with the word of God, you need to tend to your tree because even a cherry tree that takes seven years to produce a fruit, produce fruit, why aren’t you producing? If anyone comes to you and claim they are believers, children of God, following the word, reading & studying their bible, has a personal relationship with God, the Holy Spirit is in them and you don’t see fruits that represent this claim, they are false, false prophets, false converts, and deceivers.  “For a good tree does not bear bad fruit, nor does a bad tree bear good fruit. For every tree is known by its own fruit. For men do not gather figs from thorns, nor do they gather grapes from a bramble bush.A good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart brings forth evil. For out of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks.” Luke 6:43-45.

The Holy Spirit is not a liar, not false and if the Holy Spirit truly resides in you, there are things and people that work in opposition of God you will NOT embrace, support, and follow, no matter how much you like them. The Holy Spirit won’t be please and will be grieve and you will know that the Holy Spirit is grieving over your decisions to follow the wrong path, wrong people, embracing evil and the likeness, if you are truly born-again. Beloved this is not the time to be playing “church” and playing with your spiritual life, you will have to answer to God one day and he will not accept any excuses from you “I’m not perfect” “You know my Heart” “I was trying not to be judgmental.” Matthew 7:13-24;  Matthew 12:33-37, Mark 7; Mark 9:8-35-38. No, come judgment day, there will no excuses you can give to God about your lifestyle, your decisions, your choices, none. You can’t be two things at once, you must make a choice of who you truly are and whose you truly are. “Does a spring send forth fresh water and bitter from the same opening?  Can a fig tree, my brethren, bear olives, or a grapevine bear figs? Thus no spring yields both salt water and fresh”, James 3:11-12

Here Is a Few Ways to Examine Why You May Not Be Producing Fruit

Are you Truly Born-Again? When you gave your life to the Messiah, there should have been a heart change as well. Anyone can say I accept the Messiah in my life with their lips but did you accept him with your heart? Romans 10:1-11 (Romans 10:9-10).

Have you examine your heart? Your heart is where all seeds take root, Proverbs 4:23 tells us to “keep our hearts with all diligence, for out of it are the issues of life,” Whatever is truly in your heart about anything or anyone is what’s going to produce in your actions, this is guaranteed! That is why you’ll hear people say “their true colors came out” You can fake it outwardly, but you can’t fake wants truly in your heart. Actions still speak louder than words. If the things of the world or the love of this world, the people, etc. is in your heart, than that is what you going to produce. If the things of God are in your heart, then that is what you are going to produce. Your fruit tree will tell on you all the time. 1 John 2:15-17; Psalm 24: Psalm 119:11

Are you Applying the Scriptures to your Life? I see many people like to make quotes out of scriptures, and you can speak about scripture, you can know scripture but if you don’t actually apply it to your life-no fruit of the scriptures will produce. It’s not enough to say, “I am the righteousness of God” I need to produce fruits of righteousness as well, 2 Timothy 3:7-17; Philippians 4:6-9; Hebrews 5:11-14

Have you made a Commitment to God? People who are not committed are usually all over the place. They are here and there. Today they are with God, tomorrow they are “partying over there, nothing over here”. God is not two-faced with you, why are you two-faced with him? If you are truly born-again, you have to make a commitment to God, you can’t have it both ways, where you doing what is pleasing to your flesh and then run to God when you are done, Galatians 5:16-25; Psalm 1:1-6; James 4:7-17. Tomorrow is not promise to anyone; don’t be caught up with the glitter and gold.

This is of course is not an all the ways to identify why you are not producing any fruits but it’s a few ways you can start to examine your life. I hope this is encouraging to those who truly desire a relationship with God and you want some real spiritual growth to manifest in your life. When you get born-again it’s not an overnight process, you have to work out your salvation, you have to put some work in to see the fruits of righteousness, holiness, wisdom, knowledge, understanding, discernment. It’s a life long journey and once you accept that, you can begin to grow slowly but surely and produce some fruits. Growing spiritually has been a blessing in my life, if I didn’t have anything but only had God, I will be the most satisfy person in the world. God is good, will you get to know him to know how good he is? Draw Closer to God
