Selling something special to your being is nothing new, we learn about the first person in the bible to give their birthright for a plate of food, Genesis 25:29-34 “Now Jacob cooked a stew; and Esau came in from the field, and he was weary. And Esau said to Jacob, “Please feed me with that same red stew, for I am weary.” Therefore his name was called Edom. But Jacob said, “Sell me your birthright as of this day.” And Esau said, “Look, I am about to die; so what is this birthright to me?” Then Jacob said, “Swear to me as of this day.” So he swore to him, and sold his birthright to Jacob. And Jacob gave Esau bread and stew of lentils; then he ate and drank, arose, and went his way. Thus Esau despised his birthright.”
We can learn a lot here, Esau felt he had no choice, which was probably not true, but because he was in a distressed situation he really believed he had no choice. Lesson to learn here, you always have a choice and don’t allow yourself or others to make you feel like you do not have a choice. Esau was a man of the field, I’m pretty sure he knew how to gather food, but because he was hungry and wanted to eat immediately he let that cloud his thinking. Don’t allow desperate situations to make you make decisions you will later regret.
The next lesson here, quick and easy is not always good, Esau had to make a quick decision and didn’t think things through, once he realized what he had done, he despised his birthright. Although, you may feel like you “don’t have time” or running out of time, relax and think about what you are willing to give up. Is what you giving up worth what you are getting? If you are getting the shorthand of the stick, look for another alternative.
Next lesson here, we can learn that people will take advantage of your “situation” and we see this all the time. You have women, usually runaways who are homeless who will work with a pimp to be a prostitute because they think this individual is going to help them. You have people who are given drugs because they were told it would make them “feel better,” and now they are addicted to drugs or worst died from it.
The next lesson here is that family members are not exempt from taking advantage of you, Jacob was Esau’s brother, you would think it was nothing to give your hungry brother some stew, but Jacob’s heart had bigger plans and took advantage of Esau’s situation. As much as we would like to believe all people are good, sometimes it’s those closest to you to trick, use, abuse, and destroy you.
I also want to add that these lessons can apply to many situations we face in the world today. A perfect example is the COVID-19 vaccine, you have politicians, celebrities, corporations, even some churches, working really hard to get many people on board and there are many people who because they want to get back to “normal” which is not going to happen, feel like they have no choice, but you do have a choice, think for yourself. Just like we see with Esau he made a bad decision and didn’t think things through because he felt he had “no choice.” When you see all these celebrities come on National T.V. to convince people the vaccine is safe, that’s very questionable, and I find that ridiculous, none of these people are doctors, nor are they familiar with your body or your medical conditions or what could happen to you if you decide to take it. Whatever choice you make in life, should be based on you thinking things thoroughly, seeking God for wisdom, and understanding prior to making any decision not what other people are trying to convince you to do. They know many people are groupies and followers that is why they can use certain people to convince you to do things. This is all training for bigger things to come, like the Mark of the Beast and they are going to be many even those dear to you that will be used to take advantage of you. I pray that you can see the obvious.
Some of the Reasons Why People Sell Their Soul:
- They Feel like They Have No Other Choice
- Desperation, In a Stressful Situation
- Inability to Control their Greed or Desire for Money, Success
- Living to Please People-Want to be with the “In-Crowd”
- Someone Close or Someone they Admire, Lookup, to convince them to do it: Church, a Pastor, Family Member, Friend, Celebrity, Politicians
- Want to be Popular- Desire Fame and Recognition
- Feel God is Taking too Long- Want Quick & Easy
- Prefer the World’s Way vs. God’s way
If you find yourself in any of the above situations, stop, pause and think. Use wisdom, and discernment in all your decisions, especially these days. The setup is real, as scripture tells us the Anti Messiah cause both great and small, rich and poor, to take the Mark of the Beast and many are being well trained in preparation for his Coming and the Mark. Nothing on this earth nor anybody is worth selling your soul. I hope you gain something from this. This is personally one of the reasons I enjoy reading the bible there are so many lessons to learn and so much guidance given to us. As believers, hold dear to this scripture, “1 John 4:4, “You are of God, little children, and have overcome them, because He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world.” God got you, trust in Him, focus on Him, and Draw Closer to Him.
