Today I want to give you practical ways to think about choosing God’s ways vs. the World’s way for the two most often areas that people struggle with. Understand God knows you live in the world and there are certain things you will take part in such as working, running a business, going to school, relationships, etc. However, he also does not want us to follow the patterns of this world, such as continuing in sin, being evil, practicing wickedness, and loyalty to those who are against God. Many believers unknowingly follow the patterns of this world or are very accepting of their patterns. This can no longer be for those who are truly seeking a genuine relationship with God. God is calling you out of whatever deep sleep that you are in or whatever deception, manipulation that has taken hold of you. Early in my walk with God, I learned the only way I was going to stay committed to God and his word is to make a decision, an intentional decision not to disobey God and follow him. That is what you first must start with, make your mind up who you are going to serve. If you choose God, then all decisions made in your life will have to follow your choice. Let’s get started.
Relationships (Friendships, Dating)
The bible tells us in 1 Corinthians 15:33 “Be not deceived: evil communications corrupt good manners,” The people around you and in your life can be a source of blessing or a stumbling block. If you have people around that keep you in sin, promote sin, cheer you on in sin, encourage you to sin, you have to make the decision to not allow this in your life. If someone is causing you to sin, they obviously do not care about you. Come judgment day you cannot say “My friends” “My boyfriend” “My girlfriend” made me do this, you will be judge accordingly to your own deeds and works. 2 Corinthians 5:10 “ For we must all appear before judgment seat of Messiah, that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad,” Nobody should be able to make you disobey God, go against God no matter what position they are in your life. The way you live for God should be a source of inspiration for them to do the same, not the opposite. Choose wisely who you are allowing in your life. God will not accept any excuse for the decisions you choose to make that are contrary to his.
Examples of Practical Ways to Choosing God’s Way vs. World’s Way
The world tells you “everyone is your friend and you should be accepting of everyone no matter what.” Scripture tells us in Proverbs 13:20, “Whoever walks with the wise becomes wise, but the companion of fools will suffer harm,” Now let’s break this down, if you are friends with everybody and anyone I’m pretty sure you will have some fools in the midst. God’s word tells us hanging with a fool will cause harm, so clearly everybody cannot be your friend. This is a simple illustration to help you to discern from what “sounds good” but may not be good for you, 2 Corinthians 6:14 “Do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers. For what partnership has righteousness with lawlessness? Or what fellowship has light with darkness?”
The world tells you “have fun –live your life, you have one life to live, do what you want.” Scriptures tell us in Galatians 6:7-8 “Do not be deceived: God is not mocked, for whatever one sows, that will he also reap. For the one who sows to his own flesh will reap corruption, but the one who sows to the Spirit will from the Spirit reap eternal life. So while the world is telling you to have fun with all your desire not telling you how it’s going to end. God is telling you this is what you going to reap. The decision is yours to make sow to the flesh, you shall reap corruption, sow to the Spirit, the things of God, you will reap it eternal life.
Work (Employment, Businesses)
When you are a believer, there are certain positions we cannot take part in, especially those that promote sin and are against God’s way of living and we see this a lot in the music industry, entertainment, clubs, smoking industry. A lot of people believe because they are making “money” that is a blessing from God, no my friends the devil can bless you as well. God is not going to make you money with a type of employment or business that is contrary to his word. Take, for example, a stripper, why would God say to be holy and bless you stripping? Does that really make sense to you? Understand the scriptures, understand God’s ways so you can avoid making these costly mistakes. Many people are so focused on their earthly living they forget their eternal living. My friends, there is life after death, and if you choose God and continue in his ways you shall find life, “Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it, Matthew 7:13-14.
So, if you find yourself choosing, or in positions that go against God, you have to make a decision, I know it can be hard but if you pray to God to show other ways, you will be fine and free. This is not only for people in certain industries but also for those who work for certain organizations where they can impose any law, policy on you, such as wearing a mask all day at your desk. If you are not observant, before you know they will be telling you if you don’t take the vaccine you can’t work there, or if you don’t have a chip in your hand, you can’t work there. Next, it will be, “if you don’t have the mark of the beast you can’t work there”. This is a warning to be on guard with “changes” and laws being implemented in public and private sectors because it’s just training to get you to accept something that will go against God. That is why I encourage others to be more self-sufficient stop relying so much on the government, your employer, and even money, have a backup plan because they will be used against you, Matthew 6:24 “No one can serve two masters, for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and money.”
Examples of Practical Ways to Choosing God’s Way vs. World’s Way
The world trains us to work all our lives, most people for companies and with people they don’t even like to get “ahead in life” then retire when you are 100 and But scripture tells us in Psalms 127: 1-2,” Unless the Yahweh builds the house, the builders labor in vain. Unless Yahweh watches over the city, the guards stand watch in vain. In vain you rise early and stay up late, toiling for food to eat—for he grants sleep to those he loves.” Almost 90% of these companies, and organizations are not built by God or with God in mind that’s why you have no excitement working there; it’s not your place. If God is not a part of it, there will be no peace; you are laboring in vain. If all your strength is used to build the world, building companies that clearly oppose God, work for organizations that oppose God you are laboring in vain. So the decision is yours to make, will you keep supporting something that gives you no peace or will you choose God’s way and let him give you the wisdom to built something worthy. For those who don’t want to have a business, and prefer to work for someone else, make sure you truly pray about that position because if it’s not God’s choice for you, there will be no peace.
The world tells you to use debt to built wealth. Scripture tells you in Proverbs 22:7“The rich rules over the poor, and the borrower is the slave of the lender.” Most people who borrow people do not pay it completely off. That is why you hear stories of people losing it all, they are not actually paying off the debt even when money comes through their hands. This makes you a slave to the lender because many people spend years, sometimes all their lives paying back debt. When King Solomon become wealthy he did not need to use debt, he prayed a simple prayer for wisdom and God made the decision because he saw that King Solomon did not have a heart of greed and ask for riches and bless him with these things. So you don’t have to use the world’s wisdom and ways, God ways are fine. Many don’t use God’s way because they feel it may take longer but at least you have your peace. “But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well, Matthew 6:33.
I hope you are coming to an understanding about how choosing God’s way vs the World’s way works. It’s a matter of looking in your life and seeing what goes against God and deciding to remove it or don’t do it, so you can properly serve God, and not get caught up with deception. Choose what the scripture is telling you concerning the situation, that is choosing God’s way.
