Do You Like Surprises?

You know there are people out there who simply don’t like surprises even when it is a good surprise. I actually like surprises, but good ones! Nevertheless, some surprises are not always good. The dangerous thing about having a routine is not expecting to get a surprise; some people live life as if everything will be the same forever and ever. One of the things I love about being a believer is God gave us the heads up, the few believers who actually read the Bible, won’t be surprised when things and the world “changes.” If you don’t like surprises, then you probably want to be one of the people that want to know what is going to happen, and if you are a believer then it will be imperative to read and study your bible, so you can live life without panicking and worrying. No matter what generation you come from, or living in, things are going to happen; while some things are going to escalate, you don’t have to live in fear if you are a believer. Philippians 4:6-7 tells us “Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through the Messiah.” Do you know what this scripture means? It means because your faith is in God and not in this world, you don’t have to live in worry, fear, anxiety, or even with unwelcome surprises! While many are going to hate the coming world surprises; more because they are in a spiritual slumber or some even choosing to not “wake up” spiritually because they are too afraid to face reality, you can be at peace no matter what is going on. As believers always remember, you live “in” this world but you are not “of” this world. Therefore, you don’t have to take part in everything the world takes part in. You don’t have to believe what the world believes, and you don’t have to live as the world lives, be ye separate. The separation of the sheep’s and goats has already begun; make sure you are in the right side, so you won’t get an unwelcome surprise.

Scripture Meditations

“Do not be unequally yoked together with unbelievers. For what fellowship has righteousness with lawlessness? And what communion has light with darkness? And what accord has the Messiah with Belial? Or what part has a believer with an unbeliever? And what agreement has the temple of God with idols? For you are the temple of the living God. As God has said: “I will dwell in them And walk among them. I will be their God, And they shall be My people.” Therefore “Come out from among them And be separate, says Yahweh. Do not touch what is unclean, And I will receive you.” “I will be a Father to you, And you shall be My sons and daughters, Says Yahweh.” 2 Corinthians 6:14-18

“But understand this, that in the last days there will come times of difficulty. For people will be lovers of self, lovers of money, proud, arrogant, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, heartless, unappeasable, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not loving good, treacherous, reckless, swollen with conceit, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having the appearance of godliness, but denying its power. Avoid such people. For among them are those who creep into households and capture weak women, burdened with sins and led astray by various passions, always learning and never able to arrive at a knowledge of the truth. Just as Jannes and Jambres opposed Moses, so these men also oppose the truth, men corrupted in mind and disqualified regarding the faith. But they will not get very far, for their folly will be plain to all, as was that of those two men. You, however, have followed my teaching, my conduct, my aim in life, my faith, my patience, my love, my steadfastness, my persecutions and sufferings that happened to me at Antioch, at Iconium, and at Lystra—which persecutions I endured; yet from them all the Lord rescued me. Indeed, all who desire to live a godly life in the Messiah will be persecuted, while evil people and impostors will go on from bad to worse, deceiving and being deceived. But as for you, continue in what you have learned and have firmly believed, knowing from whom you learned it and how from childhood you have been acquainted with the sacred writings, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in the Messiah. All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.” 2 Timothy 3:1-17

“Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world—the desires of the flesh and the desires of the eyes and pride of life is not from the Father but is from the world. And the world is passing away along with its desires, but whoever does the will of God abides forever. 1 John 2:15-17

“None of the rulers of this age understood this, for if they had, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory. But, as it is written, “What no eye has seen, nor ear heard, nor the heart of man imagined, what God has prepared for those who love him”—these things God has revealed to us through the Spirit. For the Spirit searches everything, even the depths of God.” 1 Corinthians 2:8-10

“But our citizenship is in heaven, and from it we await a Savior, the Messiah,” Philippians 3:20

“Yahweh is my shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters. He restores my soul. He leads me in paths of righteousness for his name’s sake. Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; you anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I shall dwellin the house of Yahweh forever.” Psalm 23
